Teen Alcohol use Marijuana use Rising

An article in the associated press states..” Alcohol and Marijuana use among teens is on the rise, ending a decadelong decline, a study being released today found.”

The article states ” The annual survey indicated the number of teens in Grade 9 through 12 who reported drinking alcohol in the previous month rose 11 percent last year, with 39 percent-about 6.5 million teens reporting alcohol use. That’s up from 35 percent or about 5.8 million teens in 2008.

For pot, 25 percent of teens reported smoking marijuana in the previous month, up from 19 percent.”

It is important for parents to be aware and intune with your teens emotions, behaviors, peers. Setting healthy boundaries with money and limits with friends and curfews so you can monitor your adolescemnt. Take time each day to really listen to your teen and their needs, feelings, challenges.
