Relationship Red Flags

I read any article in the Harvard Bussiness Review 12-07 by John Gottman called making relationships work.

According the article we should be aware of: criticism, defensiveness, contempt, and stonewalling. These are the best predictors of continued misery are breakup. You can not resolve conflict with your partner when you are conveying the message you are disgusted with her.

Honoring your partners dreams is important according to the article.
We need humor, affection, silliness, exploration, playing, lust, touching- all those positive emotional things that we share with all mammmals.

Men who sprinkle yeses throughout their relationship and who share power with their wife is important according to the article. The article states that if a man is not willing to share power with his wife; there is any 81 percent chance the marriage will self destruct.

Successful couples look for ways to accentuate the positive.

Teens Anger and Violence Kills 7 year old girl

Two teens in Colorado killed a 7 year old girl. The girl lost consciousness and stopped breathing after the teens hit, kicked, and body-slammed her, imitating moves used in the video game moves from Mortal Kombat.

Teens need parenting, boundaries, love, healthy ways to cope with anger and other emotions. Teens are spending hours a day absorbing violence instead of learning skills that will prepare them for a healthy future. I believe the detriments of playing violent video games far outweigh any benefit.
