Monday, January 18th, 2010I had an opportunity to watch Avatar this past weekend.
The special effects were great. The action and new technology was
exciting and ground breaking.
Avatar's real genius is showing man's ability to show love and
compassion for life: trees, animals, humans.
Avatar shows the ugly side of humanity: ego, greed, selfisness, fear,
control, power, domination.
When we are pre occupied with fear, judgment, power, and ego it gives
us little room to appreciate all the beauty on the planet and the
universe.
Take time each day to appreciate yourself, the trees, the flowers ,
the sunset. Take time to appreciate and love your children and your
friends and your mom and Dad.Take time to show love and acceptance to
teachers and co-workers.
As Khalil Gibran states " you give but little when you give of your
possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. For
what are your possessions but things you keep and guard for fear you
may need them tomorrow, what shall tomorrow bring to the overprident
dog burying bones in the trackless sand as he follows the pilgrims to
the holy city?
There are those that give for recognition and their hidden desires
make their gifts unwholesome. And there are those that have little and
give it all. These are the believers in life and the bounty of life,
and their coffer is never empty.
There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward. And
there are those that give with pain, and that pain is their baptism."
Take time to give each day and count your blessings each day.
