Family Counseling for ADD and ADHD and Child Therapy

Parents need to know what to expect from their child and learn ways to help manage the child’s behaviors. Family counseling is important and should go hand in hand with child therapy or teen counseling. Teaching behavior modification and contracting with parents to reach desired goals is important as well and a part of family
sessions.
CBT counseling approaches can be very helpful in the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder ADHD. Stop and think before you act counseling , look at your thoughts and make them healthier thoughts is a part of CBT. Teaching the ADHD child how to solve problems, and teaching him how to decrease his impulsiveness is a positive approach. Teaching the ADHD child ways to be more relaxed and less hyperactive as well as modifying behavior is vital.
Attention Deficit Disorder is an impulse-control challenge and ADHD children need to be taught how to control themselves, how to manage with their impulsiveness, how to solve problems, and how to stop and think before they act on their thoughts. They need
coping skills and life skills to help them on their journey in life.
Attention Deficit Disorder – ADHD individuals need to be taught how to be under control, how to wait their turn, how to display manners, show respect to teachers, peers, parents. How to focus and complete tasks at home and at school.
