A new law in Utah penalizes drivers who are texting and cause a
fatality the same as a drunken driver that kills someone.

Offenders who commit a fatality due to texting now face up to 15 years
in prison.

The Utah law states that it is inherently reckless behavior.

Parents can model healthy driving behaviors re: texting and teach teen
drivers that it is an extremely dangerous behavior while driving a
deadly weapon a vehicle.
